Born and brought up in Newcastle upon Tyne, Naomi was obsessed with drawing and fashion from an early age.

 

She went on to study Fashion Promotion and Illustration at the University of Creative Arts in Epsom and Fashion Marketing at Northumbria University before embarking on a career as a mens and boys sportswear designer for well known companies such as Reebok, Hi-Tec, Lonsdale, Marks and Spencer and Umbro.

 

Naomi has worked as a Course Leader/lecturer in fashion on the Extended Diploma in Fashion and Textiles at Cleveland College of Art and Design and is currently Senior Lecturer in Fashion Promotion at Sunderland University, where she continues to pass on her love of illustration and fashion design/marketing as much as possible.

 

She continues to do freelance illustration and her work has been published in a number of books including 'The Big Book of Fashion Illustration' by Martin Dawber and 'Fashion Artist' by Sandra Burke as well as current fashion and style websites.

In 2018 Naomi wrote, designed and illustrated her first book; 'The Call of the Sea' about the history of shipbuilding in Sunderland and the Tall Ships Races. The book won the Mountbatten Award for Best Book 'Certificate of Merit' presented by the Maritime Foundation in late 2018. The book can be purchased here

Alongside her day job as a lecturer, Naomi is currently undertaking a part time PhD in sustainable fashion and consumer awareness at Heriot Watt University School of Textiles and Design in Galashiels.

In whatever spare time she has left, Naomi likes to travel the World exploring new cities and spends her evenings discussing life with her rescue cats Crystal and Lily.
